Change will come whether you want it to or not. There is nothing we can do to stop it or make it change its course. There is a greater force than you or I at the wheel, and it won’t stop, turn, or even change lanes at your behest. Change will come, and you can never be certain whether it will benefit you or hurt you. Life is a journey for which there is no map. The best you can do is try to plan ahead for the bumps and detours and enjoy the scenery.

This is a response to this week’s Indie Ink Writing Challenges. My prompt came from Michael Webb: “‘As children, your world is yours. That day[his father's death] taught me that it’s really not your world. Somebody else is in control-fate, God, whatever it is. It is not your show. And the show can be brutal.’ -Tim Allen”
Author’s note: This is a very short piece (duh) but after reading the above quote three times, this is what came to me. It’s another stream of consciousness piece. I learned long ago that if something wants to come to me in a certain way or form, I’m much better off not fighting it. I hope you all enjoy.
I issued a prompt to Summer Page: “You turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about.”
